Refugee Women’s Network (RWN) Refugee Women’s Network (RWN) is a 501c3 organization serving refugees and Immigrants resettled in the state of Georgia. RWN inspires and equips refugee and immigrant women to become leaders in their homes, businesses, and communities. For more than 20 years, we’ve continued to be the only organization in Georgia that specifically serves refugee women.
We are women of color, immigrant, and refugee-led organization, with a mission to support women survivors of war, conflict, and displacement in overcoming cultural and systemic barriers to achieving healthy, self-sufficient, and fulfilling lives. We work to address these barriers through culturally sensitive, community-led, and grassroots responses that meet women where they are. We do this through uplifting community-driven grassroots solutions.
Job Title: Economic Empowerment Program Coordinator
Purpose:
The Economic Empowerment Program Coordinator is accountable for the implementation of the organization’s mission by providing services to refugee and immigrant women and their families in Metro Atlanta and across Georgia. Additionally, the Coordinator works with community partners, including statewide coalitions, refugee resettlement agencies, ethnic and community-based associations, and immigrant rights organizations. The Economic Empowerment Program Coordinator empowers refugee and immigrant women with the knowledge and resources to become economically self-reliant by providing employment assistance, facilitating career pathways, and access to educational and financial literacy training programs. The Program Coordinator also supports the Lending Circle Program which is an innovative way for refugee women to build credit through savings and small social loans.
This position reports to the Program Manager. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values and operating principles of RWN.
Role Responsibilities:
● Manage the Economic Empowerment Program and meet its program outcomes and requirements.
● Serve as the first point of contact for RWN’s clients, conducting intakes, screening for eligibility, and making referrals to RWN's programs, other organizations and social services in the community.
● Carry out employment outreach such as resume, job search, job application and interview assistance.
● Facilitate employment opportunities by making connections to sustainable employment opportunities at all skill levels through workforce partnerships with partner organizations, local businesses and staffing agencies.
● Maintaining ongoing communication provide continuity of care; providing general case management, assisting with language needs, document collection, client follow-up, and referrals for other services as needed.
● Facilitate communication with clients to develop an understanding of their needs, maintain collaborative, trusting relationships with clients to form comprehensive client-driven plans with both short and long-term goals to help clients achieve financial self-sufficiency.
● Work one-on-one with program participants by providing assessments and orientations in addition to creating individual goal plans and economic empowerment and self-reliant plans.
● Evaluate and adjust client service plans to support clients in meeting their goals.
● Represent RWN at coalition meetings with community partners.
● Conduct client surveys and assist with other compliance and reporting requirements.
● Data entry into DHS and Apricot software, track client progress through cases' notes, contacts, services provided, and documents recorded.
● Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive information of clients.
● Take the lead in recruitment and management for the Lending Circle Program.
● Create a new lending circle every other month.
● Keep clients up to date with changes to their current circle such as missed payments.
● Host financial workshops.
● Assist clients with accessing financial education modules.
● Establish collaborative relationships with other refugee and community agencies.
● Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager
Qualifications:
● A bachelor’s degree in human services or related field or equivalent work and volunteer experience.
● Adaptability and possession of strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
● Demonstrated ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information.
● Knowledge of best practices for working with vulnerable populations, including asylum seekers and refugee and immigrant population.
● Strong oral and written communication
● Proficiency with MS Office and G Suite
● Strong work ethic and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
● Reliable transportation and ability to travel within RWN's service area.
● Fluency in a second language (written/spoken) Arabic or Swahili are preferred.
